LOUDON 2010 CAR SHOW

Now in it’s 4th year CarsnRides at Loudon castle is quickly establishing itself as one of Scotland’s best family motorshows. This years show featured a mix of modified cars, supercars, stunt shows, live music and much much more.

One of the highlights from this year’s show included the Bungee Jump, where you had the opportunity to hurl yourself off a 160ft platform towards the Loudon turf with only a bungee cord for safety. This unique experience was available for the first time at Loudon and at an amazing price of just £50.

All the car clubs were there in force as usual, Cruise Ayrshire and Edinburgh cruise were impressive as always, but it was another club who took home the best club stand trophy, Lo-motion. When I first walked past Lo-motion’s stand I was immediately impressed, they had a mixed array of modern modified cars to quirky classics. The fact that they also had a massive gazebo set up the night before and a video of the show on youtube the same day shows their dedication, worthy winners in my opinion.

One of my personal highlights however was the sound off which is hosted by Audiowise of East Kilbride in conjuction with The Scottish Modified Car Show. The unique aspect of this years sound off was the rules, of which there were none! Allan at Audiowise explained to me that they wanted this year’s sound off to be more assessable rather than being strictly exclusive. It means that anyone could enter, whether you have spent £100 or £10,000 you could enter and be in with a shout of winning. The Sound off was split into four ‘money’ categories to keep it fair, Category 1 was up to £500 spent on audio, Category 2 was up to £1500, Category 3 was up to £2500 and Category 4 was £2500 and up. The competition was Judged on overall loudness’ (Db) , sound quality and quality of build. Extra points were awarded for any special features that caught the judge’s eye.

After much deliberation the winners were announced and without doubt the highlight of the whole competition was the white Lexus IS. The owner explained to me that he had the car from new and after owning the car for a year he was made redundant. Well you can guess what followed; the redundancy money was spent entirely on the car, you really have to see the car in person.

Be sure to visit the sound off at the Scottish Modified Car Show 2010 to see all the winners from Loudon and to see the Scottish champion being crowned.
